Project: A returning client, who previously transformed their terraced house with an L shape loft conversion five years ago, has now embarked on an exciting new project: a wrap-around L shape extension. This innovative extension promises to enhance their living space, offering both functionality and style. By seamlessly integrating with the existing structure, this extension not only maximises the available area but also elevates the overall aesthetic of the home. The project reflects a commitment to creating a harmonious and spacious living environment, perfectly tailored to the client’s evolving needs.

Location: Walthamstow

Challenges: The primary challenge was to expand the downstairs living area by effectively utilising the side return space. This required a thoughtful design approach to ensure the new extension seamlessly integrated with the existing structure, while also enhancing the home’s functionality and aesthetic appeal. Balancing the need for additional space with the desire to maintain a cohesive and inviting atmosphere was crucial. The project demanded innovative solutions to maximise natural light and create a fluid connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, ultimately transforming the area into a vibrant and spacious hub for family life.

Key Features: The open-plan living area serves as the heart of the home, fostering a sense of connectivity and spaciousness. Bifold doors elegantly blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, inviting natural light to flood the interior and creating a seamless transition to the garden. The pitch glazed feature skylight is a striking addition, bathing the space in daylight and enhancing the architectural interest of the extension. These features collectively transform the living area into a bright, welcoming environment, perfect for both relaxation and entertaining, while also adding significant value to the property.

Results: The client now enjoys a generously proportioned downstairs living area, where the expansive design offers an unobstructed view of the sky above the kitchen. This transformation has not only increased the functional space but also introduced a sense of openness and tranquillity. The integration of natural elements through the skylight and bifold doors creates a serene atmosphere, enhancing the overall living experience. This newly designed space is perfect for hosting gatherings or enjoying quiet family moments, making it a true sanctuary within the home.
